Buhi, Camarines Sur – Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), in partnership with GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), inaugurated the steel hanging bridge in Barangay Iraya last October 20, 2017. After its groundbreaking last July 2017, the Iraya steel hanging bridge is now proudly built and officially turned over to the residents of Brgy. Iraya. The expeditious construction of the hanging steel bridge was made possible with the help of MMPC and other GMAKF partners as well. The Iraya steel hanging bridge is the first bridge that was built under GMAKF’s “Kapuso Tulay para sa Kaunlaran” project. This 30-meter hanging bridge is made of steel and concrete. Solar powered lamps are also installed on the bridge to illuminate the way in the evening.

During the celebration of Mitsubishi’s 100 years anniversary, MMPC donated Php 1 million to GMAKF to help construct the bridge. GMAKF is a non-government socio-civic organization with a burning desire to be of service to Filipinos and to uplift the current situation of the indigent sectors of the Philippines. MMPC, sharing the same passion and ideals, chose to partner with GMAKF to fulfill its goal of creating a worthwhile project that will help people in need. MMPC found a great opportunity to execute its goal in GMAKF’s “Kapuso Tulay para sa Kaunlaran” project. The construction of the hanging bridge will not only specifically aid the students from Brgy. Iraya to go to school safely every day, but also the residents to carry out their everyday routine efficiently.

The inauguration ceremony of Iraya steel hanging bridge was held at the Iraya Elementary School grounds, which is located near where the hanging bridge was built. The turnover ceremony was led by the Executive Vice President and COO of GMAKF, Rikki Escudero-Catibog. The ceremony was attended by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) Senior Vice President for Corporate Planning Yosuke Nishi, D. M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) First Vice President for International Business Development Ronaldo R. Elepaño, Jr., and Republic Cement President Renato Sunico. Also present during the ceremony were the Commanding General of the AFP’s Southern Luzon Command, Major General Benjamin Madrigal, the assistant division commander of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division, Brig. General Chad Isleta, DPWH and DepEd Regional heads.

With the newly inaugurated bridge, MMPC is looking forward to seeing the children of Brgy. Iraya even more motivated to go to school and the rest of the community more eager to fulfil their daily tasks.
